WARNING: EVANGELION SPOILERS AND BRIEF GORE AHEAD
This brings up a question I’ve been wondering about for a while - how humanoid IS Unit-00?
When we see Unit-01 getting injured and/or going berserk, it’s clear that it’s got organic parts:
And likewise, when we see Unit-02 getting cannibalized/going berserk, it’s clear that it’s even more humanoid than 01:
So, we know that those two are DEFINITELY significantly organic in addition to their mechanical portions (and don’t even get me started on Bardiel/Unit-03).
But…how organic is Unit-00? Other than the above image, I don’t think we ever get a clear shot at its insides, and the only time we see it going berserk is in the test chamber:
And even in the above image, only one has a head that doesn’t look 100% machine.
So…what of this? Were the Evas getting more and more organic - more human - as the building of the series progressed? Opinions?
i always thought that evas are mostly organic, with robotic additions or modifications. like androids. and they have mechanically-modified brains, to make it possible to control them. and that the outside robotic stuff is just armor. the scene with the bandaged 01 head kinda cemented that for me.
I’d say they’re all at least half-organic, but I don’t really have any info to back that up. I just want to know as much about 00 as we do about 01, 02 and 03 :p
It’s also interesting to not that 01’s and 02’s torso seem to be constructed differently. When 01’s chest bursts open, we see this:
But when 02’s chest is opened…well, I’m sure we all remember that. I’m not positive that 02 has a core because it’s not made to achieve the endgame that 01 was, but maybe that has a lot to do with the organic/machine balance in them.

So it just struck me that all of the promo material saying that the release date of 3.33 is a week away has been in Japanese…is there any word on an American release date, or did I miss something?
